海外の摂食嚥下研究でよく見かけるFunctional Oral Intake Scale(FOIS)の信頼性・妥当性を検討した論文です。日本の嚥下グレード（藤島）に相当する尺度でしょうか。Cross-validationまでされていて、なかなか良い結果が出ています。食事の経口摂取状況を評価する尺度です。

FOIS (Functional Oral Intake Scale)
Level 1: Nothing by mouth.
Level 2: Tube dependent with minimal attempts of food or liquid.
Level 3: Tube dependent with consistent oral intake of food or liquid.
Level 4: Total oral diet of a single consistency.
Level 5: Total oral diet with multiple consistencies, but requiring special preparation or compensations.
Level 6: Total oral diet with multiple consistencies without special preparation, but with specific food limitations.
Level 7: Total oral diet with no restrictions.
の7段階のスケールです。

日本語訳としては

FOIS (Functional Oral Intake Scale)
level1: 経口摂取なし
level2: 経管栄養とお楽しみ程度の経口摂取
level3: 経管栄養と均一な物性の食事の併用
level4: 均一な物性の食事のみ経口摂取（ゼリー食・ペースト食など）
level5: さまざまな物性の食事を経口摂取しているが、特別な準備や代償が必要（刻み食のトロミかけなど）
level6: 特別な準備は不要だが特定の食品の制限がある（やわらか食・軟菜食など）
level7: 制限なく常食経口摂取
という感じでしょうか。
